 Ika
A village and seaside resort on the eastern coast
of Istria, 9 km south of Opatija, on the slopes of Ucka; population
477. It is located in an open small cove with a nice coastal strand.
With the development of tourism at the end of the 19th century and
in the 20th century, a number of rest homes and restaurants were
constructed in this area. A coastal road connects Ika with the main
road (M2, E751).
Ika is an old fishermen's village in which tourism
started to develop as early as the 1820s. Lush vegetation and mild
climate offer excellent visitor opportunities round the year. Tourists
may also enjoy water sports, walking (promenade called "lungomare")
and entertainment programs in nearby Lovran and Opatija.
